Neighbors of The Nave: The Anchorage Local

When Klynt moved to Anchorage from Utah five years ago, he was surprised to hear people say there was "nothing to do" in the city. His experience was the opposite. From festivals and community gatherings downtown to local businesses and niche interest groups in Spenard, Klynt found Anchorage to be full of opportunities—it just wasn't easy to find them. Inspired by a conversation at his dentist's office about a local event they had completely missed, he launched The Anchorage Local, a platform that helps residents discover what's happening around town and connect with the people, places, and stories that make Anchorage unique.

Today, The Anchorage Local shares curated event recommendations, community happenings, and local business spotlights through social media and a growing weekly newsletter. Klynt envisions it becoming a trusted resource featuring artists, entrepreneurs, neighborhood organizations, clubs, local stories, neighborhood spotlights, and community-building events. The Anchorage Local's mission is simple: help people find their people.

As The Anchorage Local grows, they are seeking community partners, sponsors, collaborators, storytellers, and supporters. You can help by subscribing to the newsletter, following online, and sharing it with others. With a grassroots spirit and a vision for a more connected city, The Anchorage Local aims to help residents discover not only more things to do, but more places to belong.
