Neighbors of The Nave: The Carousel Lounge
The Carousel Lounge, located at 3206 Spenard Rd, is a popular dive bar (est. 1957) known for its live music, karaoke, pool tables, and darts. But what many folks might not realize is The Carousel Lounge's dedication to our local community at its heart. Recently, a longstanding group at The Nave needed a space to grieve an unexpected tragedy. Our team was stuck and unable to accommodate for the next day, due to a double-booking that made our spaces unavailable. But Paul Berger, co-owner of The Carousel Lounge, picked up the phone late at night to offer his space for the group to meet on short notice. At 7:50 am the next day, Paul opened The Carousel Lounge for an alcohol-free meeting for the community members who needed to gather.
The Nave team was deeply humbled and grateful for Paul's compassionate generosity during a difficult time. While many folks may not have initially pictured The Carousel Lounge as a place for an early morning gathering of this nature, we deeply appreciate the Spenardian spirit at the core of Paul's kind gesture during tragedy. No matter who we are, or where we come from, or what we may (or may not) be known for, there is a spirit of kindness here in Spenard. Thank you to Paul Berger and The Carousel Lounge for demonstrating the open-minded generosity that Spenard is becoming known for. We raise our glass of (insert beverage of preference here) to The Carousel Lounge with deep appreciation for our neighbors.
