Neighbors of The Nave: Salsa Oaxaqueña

Salsa Oaxaqueña, located at 3505 Spenard Rd B, is a local Oaxacan restaurant serving delicious handmade tortillas, tamales, and traditional Oaxacan cuisine. The restaurant is owned and operated by Abraham Martinez Marthel, Selena Vázquez-Lopez, and Rosi Martinez Marthel, an Indigenous Triqui family who moved to Alaska from Mexico. The space is decorated with vibrant murals, live plants, and traditional decor celebrating Oaxacan culture and art. The restaurant also offers karaoke and live music, with emphasis on community and cultural connections. Recently, The Nave hosted our quarterly Studio Artist dinner there. We are proud to support Salsa Oaxaqueña and other small businesses that bring diverse flavors and culture to Spenard!

Neighbors of The Nave is a series of interviews, profiles, and updates related to our neighboring businesses and organizations located in the Spenard neighborhood of Anchorage, Alaska. The goal of this series is to amplify the positive efforts of local small business owners, artists, and community organizers to support and empower their neighbors.
